Q: I have a problem, and I would very much appreciate if you could please provide a professional opinion. I would like to build a website and I have a large list of websites that I would like to review for ideas, to compare the competition, etc.
As I review the various websites and see pages that I like I would like to do the following: download the particular webpage, organise the downloaded webpages under categories and have them stored under the same folder/subfolder to compare them. Is there any (free ideally) software that I can use to do that? Thank you so much for your help.
A: This simplest way to achieve this is simply to use your browser’s save facility. Open the File menu and choose Save As (in Internet Explorer) or Save Page As (in Firefox) to store it on your hard drive. To ensure that you get all the components though you need something a bit more specialised. There are a number of free programs available that you can use to download and store webpages for offline browsing.
You could try Getleft, which is free, or WebRipper. You have to pay for the latest version of WebRipper but the earlier 1.32 version is still available free of charge.

Getleft allows you to save selected elements of a webpage to your hard drive
